Teacher Certification
- Educational Preparation:
Teachers should hold at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. In some circumstances, equivalent experience or specialized training may be considered.
- Professional Competency:
Ethos member schools may implement internal certification processes, including mentorship, probationary teaching periods, or in-house professional development to ensure readiness for classroom instruction.
- Faith Alignment (for Christian Schools):
Teachers serving in Christian schools are expected to demonstrate a commitment to the school’s statement of faith and participate in the spiritual life of the community. This may include a written testimony, pastoral reference, or church membership.
- Ongoing Development:
All teachers are encouraged to pursue continual professional growth through workshops, conferences, and collaboration with colleagues.
- Safety and Integrity:
All teachers must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment.
Administrator Certification
- Educational Leadership:
Administrators, including principals and heads of school, should possess an advanced degree or equivalent experience in education, organizational leadership, or a related field.
- Leadership Assessment:
Schools may establish internal evaluation standards and leadership training, tailored to their mission and community needs.
- Faith Alignment (for Christian Schools):
Administrators in Christian member schools are required to affirm the school’s faith statement and model its values in leadership and decision-making.
- Professional Growth:
Ongoing leadership development is encouraged through participation in Ethos Association seminars, peer learning groups, and continuing education.
- Safety and Integrity:
All administrators must complete a background check prior to assuming their roles.
Other Educational Professionals (Counselors, Specialists, Librarians)
- Relevant Qualifications:
Professionals in specialized roles should possess appropriate academic credentials or relevant experience for their field.
- Professional Development:
Ongoing training and professional learning are encouraged to maintain excellence in service.
- Faith Alignment (for Christian Schools):
Staff in Christian schools should demonstrate support for the school’s faith-based mission as appropriate to their role.
- Safety and Integrity:
All professionals must undergo a background check prior to employment.
